Foodbank
Free Version
Publisher Description
This is an app to help support the network of hundreds of food banks across the UK.
* Choose your local Foodbank from the list and the app will automatically update itself with the information from your selected Foodbank.
* The shopping list is updated regularly by your local Foodbank team and highlights those items most needed.
* Updates and stories from your local Foodbank are also downloaded direct to the app to keep supporters informed of news.
* Notifications are also used to notify supporters of new updates from the Foodbank team and also if the Foodbank is low on stock of certain food items.
* Supporters can now also donate financially to their chosen Foodbank via this app using JustGiving. Donations are routed through 'Network Church Sheffield' as the umbrella charity which then distributes the funds to the specified Foodbank.
* Each Foodbank can add multiple locations if they have more than one outlet or collection/drop-off point
* Full localisation - e.g. Welsh translation available for Welsh Foodbanks

More information about Foodbanks...
1 in 5 people are living below the poverty line in the UK.
Every day, near where you live there are families struggling to put food on the table.
For people on low incomes, a sudden crisis - redundancy, benefit delay or even an unexpected bill - can mean going hungry.
Every day parents skip meals to feed their children and people are forced to choose between paying the rent and eating.
How a Foodbank works:
Food is donated
Schools, churches, businesses and individuals donate non-perishable, in-date food to a Foodbank.
Food is also collected at 'Supermarket Collections': These are events held at supermarkets where volunteers give shoppers a 'Foodbank shopping list' and ask them to buy an extra item or two for local people in crisis.
Food is sorted and stored
Volunteers sort food to check that it's in-date and pack it into boxes ready to be given to people in need.
Frontline care professionals identify people in need
We partner with front-line care professionals who identify people in crisis and give them a voucher.
Clients receive food
Foodbank clients bring their voucher to a Foodbank centre where it can be redeemed for three days emergency food. On taking their voucher to the Foodbank centre, people receive a warm welcome, a hot drink and a food parcel. We also put people in touch with agencies who can help resolve the underlying causes of the crisis.
What's in a foodbox?
Each foodbox contains a minimum of three days nutritionally balanced, non-perishable food.
Foodbanks rely on the support of local communities.
Your local Foodbank provides emergency food and support to local people in crisis.
